New Reports Name Two Main Chelsea Transfer Targets

With the 2026 World Cup taking focus, Chelsea transfer targets have been pretty slow and steady coming along, with very few credible reports linking them to incomings, or outgoings in some cases. We have finally got some movement on that front thanks to the most recent DealSheet from The Athletic which has named the two main targets currently being sought out.

Chelsea Transfer Targets Emerge in New Reports

Maxence Lacroix

In a bid to get what The Athletic calls “two ready-made players” with top level experience, Maxence Lacroix appears to be the go-to option in the back line. The Crystal Palace man isn’t the only defender being considered and the report doesn’t offer much on the deal’s progress, merely pointing out that the Eagles are in a strong position to negotiate the highest fee possible.

Lacroix would be a signing that does add some experience, particularly in winning trophies as well as knowledge playing in a back three. With Xabi Alonso coming in there’s no guarantee what system he plays next season but the French defender would be a capable fit in a back four or three if needed.

Morgan Rogers

The Blues are claimed to have strong interest in Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers. Their rationale, according to the DealSheet is that he fits the bill of a versatile attacker, capable of playing off the left or int he left half-space around the box. This would further provide flexibility for Alonso as he could use the Englishman as a winger in a 4-2-3-1 or an inside forward in a 3-4-2-1 style setup.

There is similarly not much mentioned on how far along a possible deal could be for Rogers, but the club having key targets is a good step. While other major teams have already been active in making signings, Chelsea have trailed behind, here’s hoping they move smarter this time and not with a scattershot approach.
