Report: Arsenal set to appoint Real Betis medical specialist

Arsenal have reportedly bolstered their medical and performance department once again with the appointment of Real Betis rehabilitation specialist Eneko Angulo.

The Spaniard is set to leave Betis after 12 years at the club, where he initially joined as an intern before rising through the ranks and taking charge of first-team rehabilitation in 2024.

According to ABC Sevilla, Angulo has accepted a “lucrative offer” from the Premier League champions and will join ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Arsenal have made an active effort to improve their medical department this summer in hope of reducing the number of injuries that have affected key squad members in recent seasons.

This overhaul resulted in the surprise departure of Dr Zafar Iqbal after two-and-a-half years at the club, with former Olympic sprinter Arnaldo Abrantes expected to join from Aston Villa as his replacement.

According to the article, Angulo earned a strong reputation for his work overseeing player recovery and rehabilitation, and was highly respected by players, coaches and sporting executives alike.

The rehabilitation expert has confirmed his departure with an emotional farewell message to Betis supporters and colleagues.
