The news about Morgan Rogers’ potential Arsenal transfer has received a major boost. Aston Villa is ready to lower their asking price in a bid to secure the right deal for the attacking midfielder.
Aston Villa to reduce their asking price for Rogers?
As reported by The Standard, the West Midlands club is ready to reduce their asking price for Rogers. Initially they weren’t very keen to put Rogers on the transfer list. However, circumstances compelled them to do so. Moreover, it was reported that the Villans may ask more than £100 million in exchange for Rogers. However, in a major relief for the Gunners, the asking price could be reduced to £80 million.
The 23-year-old Rogers was acquired by Aston Villa in 2024 for a total price of £16 million. He previously played for Middlesbrough between 2023 and 2024. Before that, he played for Lincoln City, Bournemouth and Blackpool under brief loan spells from 2021 to 2023.
Rogers’ stats for the 2025-26 season, as per FOTMOB:
Competitions Matches Goals Assists
Premier League 37 10 6
FA Cup 2 1 0
EFL Cup 1 0 0
UEFA Europa League 15 3 5
How will Morgan Rogers’ transfer benefit Arsenal?
If Rogers joins Arsenal, it will be a major boost for the attacking lineup. The Gunners have bounced back from oblivion in the 2025-26 season. They won the Premier League title after 22 years. They also reached the finals of the UEFA Champions League. The North London club lost the finals to Paris Saint-Germain 4-3 on penalties. Arsenal also finished runners-up in the EFL Cup. Even in the not-so-impressive run at the FA Cup, the Gunners made it to the quarterfinals. The North London club lost to Southampton 2-1.
Naturally, manager Mikel Arteta wants to continue the momentum the next season. The management is seeking multiple players, including a credible left winger. That’s where Rogers comes into the picture. If he agrees to the deal, he has a bright future ahead with the North London club.
Future gameplan for Morgan Rogers
Morgan Rogers is currently aiming for a brilliant run at the ongoing FIFA World Cup. The attacking midfielder was included in the final 26-man squad for England, announced by head coach Thomas Tuchel on May 22.
The Three Lions have begun their World Cup campaign on an unexpectedly great note. They stunned Croatia by 4-2 in the opening group match. The English football team will now face Ghana in the next group match tonight. The match will be held at the Boston Stadium. If the English team wins tonight, the final group match against Panama will be more of a formality. England will face Panama on June 28.
However, after the World Cup, Rogers need to work on his fitness if he wants to make it big in European football. Rogers sustained two injuries in the 2025-26 season : one in August 2025 and the other in February 2026. Luckily, both were not too serious, although Rogers did miss out on a couple of matches. Additionally, Rogers also needs to work on his discipline concerns. The attacking midfielder was given seven yellow cards in the 2025-26 Premier League. If he overcomes these inconsistencies, nothing is impossible to achieve for the English midfielder.
Arsenal needs to maintain the winning momentum in the upcoming season. Manager Mikel Arteta needs players who can do the unthinkable. It remains to be seen if Rogers agrees to the deal offered by Arsenal.
