Jaclen Moxley Named Assistant Lacrosse Coach

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Jaclen Moxley has been named an assistant coach for the East Carolina Lacrosse team head coach Haley Hicklen officially announced Tuesday. Moxley is the first hire to Hicklen's staff since she was named to lead the program on May 26, 2026.

Moxley's appointment to the staff ends a two-and-a-half-year stint at the University of Pittsburgh where she served as an assistant coach (2023-26). During her stint with the Panthers, she worked with the offense and draws team that grabbed a total of 680 (226.7 avg.) over the three-year period.

"Jaclen brings a championship pedigree to Pirate Nation," Hicklen said. "She was part of a national title and Big Ten championship team at Northwestern in 2023, and her work at Pittsburgh elevating the draw unit and driving offensive improvement speaks to her ability to develop both systems and athletes. She is high energy and aligns with the values and standards we're building this program around. I couldn't be more excited to have her leading our draw takers and offense."

Last year (2026), the Panthers had two attackers (Kaitlyn Giandonato and Avery Moon) rank in the Top 10 of the Atlantic Coast Conference in two statistical categories. Giandonato stood sixth in the conference in goals and points per game, while Moon was fifth in assists and points per contest.

Her draw group stood 26th nationally in draw control percentage (57.6) and 31st in draws per game (14.00). Aidan Carr, who tallied a season-best 127 draw controls, ranked 22nd in the nation in draws per game at 7.94, up 2.27 per contest from 2025. Pitt posted Top 50 national rankings in draw control (40th/52.9 pct) and draw controls per contest (48th/14.13) in 2025. The 2024 campaign, Moxley's first at Pitt, her group tallied a total of 230 draw controls which was an improvement of 23 percent from the campaign before.

Moxley came to Pitt after spending the previous two seasons at Northwestern University as the Director of Player Development (2022-23). She worked closely with the student-athletes, coaches and support staff and especially coaching the offense and draw teams, contributing to the Wildcats' 2023 National Championship.

The Northwestern staff was named the 2023 IWLCA National Coaching Staff of the year. The Wildcats' offense scored 373 goals, recorded 177 assists and nabbed 359 draw controls. Northwestern scored the most goals, most goals per game (16.95) and had the individual (Izzy Scane) with the most goals (99) and goals per game (4.95) as well. The Wildcats had the thirteenth-best draw control percentage in the country (.572) and the fourth-most draw controls collectively (359). Their 16.32 draw controls per game was good for eleventh in the country.

Her first year in Evanston, Moxley was a volunteer assistant (2021-22), contributing to the defense and draw teams on their way to a Final Four appearance.

In 2022, Northwestern held opponents to 11.76 goals per game and grabbed 383 draw controls under Moxley's tutelage. The Wildcats .595 percentage on the draw placed them sixth nationally, while also recording 18.24 DC per game (third) and 383 overall (first).

Before joining the Northwestern staff, Moxley was the graduate assistant at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio. She coached the DIII program on offense, midfield and the draw, ranked 11th nationally during the season.

Moxley graduated from The Ohio State University and played on the lacrosse team from 2016-2020, as a draw specialist and attacker. She was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and earned her degree in exercise science. In addition to collegiate experience, Moxley spent two years working with TRUE lacrosse in Chicago and prior to that spent six years with Resolute Lacrosse in Columbus.
