The Cincinnati Bengals have a huge sense of urgency heading into the 2026 season. Cincinnati has Super Bowl aspirations now that Joe Burrow is healthy again and the defense has finally been upgraded. One NFL analyst believes that the 2026 season could have “now or never” stakes for Cincinnati's franchise quarterback.
ESPN's Dan Graziano shared his opinion on the biggest overreactions from the 2026 NFL offseason in his latest article.
Graziano agreed with the notion that the 2026 season will be incredibly important for Burrow and the Bengals. If Cincinnati cannot figure things out in 2026, they may need to make significant changes.
“A lot of this is on Burrow, who needs to stay healthy to give the Bengals the best possible chance,” Graziano wrote. “But if he does, and if the defense still lets them down, leading to another missed playoffs, Zac Taylor's eighth season as their head coach could very well turn out to be his last.”

Cincinnati's defense has been dreadful over the past few years. Even when Burrow plays at an elite level, his defense can still let him down. But that could change now that Dexter Lawrence, Boye Mafe, Bryan Cook, and others were added on defense.
“With all of the other three teams in the AFC North in transition phases under new head coaches, the opportunity is there for the Bengals to return to the top of the division and compete for an AFC championship,” Graziano added. “If they do not, you're going to once again hear people on the outside wonder how long Burrow will want to be there. And next offseason could bring more significant roster and staff changes than we've seen in Cincinnati in a while.”
Anything short of a deep playoff run will be a failure for Cincinnati. It will be exciting to see if they can live up to expectations later this fall.
