Felix Nmecha ‘inquiries’ & Leipzig ‘resigned’ to selling Diomande – Latest Liverpool FC News

RB Leipzig are reportedly “resigned” to selling Yan Diomande this summer, and Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha has become the latest name linked with Liverpool.

From Germany: Liverpool ‘made inquiries’ for Felix Nmecha

Dortmund midfielder Nmecha has started and performed well in both of Germany’s opening World Cup wins, against Curacao and the Ivory Coast.

Of course, his showings on the world stage will be of little significance to a club tracking the player over a long period, though.

According to German outlet Sport Bild, Liverpool, Man City and Man United “have all made inquiries about him.”

And they aren’t the only ones said to be considering the 25-year-old.

Reporter Maximilian Wessing wrote: “Real Madrid has him in its sights, too, as does FC Bayern.

“Director of Sport Max Eberl recently contacted the player’s camp to express that Nmecha is considered a highly interesting prospect.”

While Bayern may consider him a “highly interesting prospect,” it could be an English club that steps in to take Nmecha because he would count as homegrown, having previously been a part of Man City‘s youth setup.

Bild also reported: “Nmecha, who extended his contract until 2030 last March, has a release clause in his deal, though it does not come into effect until the summer of 2027.

“At that point, the former Wolfsburg player would be available for a fixed fee in the region of €80 million (£69m); a year later, in 2028, the figure would drop to around €70 million (£60m).”

• The Athletic reports that Kaide Gordon is to leave Liverpool this summer – the 21-year-old has made just eight Liverpool first-team appearances in the last five years

• The same report adds that Liverpool’s new, young defender, Ifeanyi Ndukwe, is likely to go out on loan immediately after signing from Austria Vienna – Armin Pecsi, Luke Chambers, Amara Nallo, James McConnell and Kieran Morrison are also set for loans

Liverpool have plenty to do in the transfer market. Despite a record outlay last summer, there are still gaping holes in the Reds’ squad. Danny Gallagher assesses what Liverpool need:

“Liverpool need bodies adding to the engine room of the team, that much is lost on nobody. With the futures of Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones uncertain, and Dominik Szoboszlai yet to sign a fresh long-term contract, doubts are in the air.

“If Iraola proved anything at Bournemouth, it’s that his team need a dynamic and robust profile in the midfield to keep things turning over. On the south coast, Tyler Adams was very much that man.

“Should Liverpool set up next season with Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch in the middle of the park, it makes all the sense in the world to have a combative and a more no-nonsense type of footballer alongside them, in order to emphasise their individual qualities.”
