Transferfeed: Milan rivalling Barcelona for signing of Schjelderup – the latest

With Rafael Leao headed away, AC Milan need to find an heir for the left-wing spot and they have found one in Andreas Schjelderup.

As we head into the mercato, this is the closest that Milan have ever been to really considering buying a new potential star winger since Christian Pulisic’s arrival. Indeed, the departure of their star winger would open the door for someone else and scouting has begun.

Milan and Barcelona fighting for starlet

According to Transferfeed, via Calciomercato.com, interest in Norwegian players has risen drastically since the start of their World Cup run and Schjelderup’s name is among them. However, he has not really been a star of their run so far.

Saying that, he has still made an impact on the wing – his runs, dribbling and threat have been attractive and clubs are taking note.

Though, the two at the front of the line would be Barcelona and the Rossoneri, who are looking to ‘reinforce their attacking wings’. Of course, with Leao departing this summer – or being likely to – it makes sense why the mercato is being looked at.

A young talent with plenty of potential, it is clear why he would be a standout option and more so when considering he plays for Benfica, where Ruben Amorim has plenty of knowledge of what makes a player ready for the elite picture.

With a contract that expires in 2028, he could well be an opportunity and Rui Costa is looking to get ‘much more’ than €20 million for him. But this could be affordable, still.
