Jerry Jones keeps mining Ufl as Ex-Giants RB joins Cowboys latest workout list

The [Dallas Cowboys](https://www.sportingnews.com/uk/nfl/dallas-cowboys) did not stop with the three UFL signings they made last week. Jerry Jones and the Cowboys are also bringing in DC Defenders running back Deon Jackson and linebacker Micah Baskerville for workouts as the club keeps searching for low-cost roster help before training camp.

After a 2025 season that ended without a playoff spot, Dallas has spent much of this offseason trying to patch a defense that gave up 511 points while also adding competition across the back end of the roster.

Jackson is the more interesting name of the two. He led the UFL in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns in 2026 and earned All-UFL honors after helping the Defenders build on their 2025 championship run.

Dallas already added Javonte Williams to its backfield, but the depth behind him still looks unsettled. Jackson gives the Cowboys another option with pro experience and a player who can help as both a runner and receiver.

Baskerville fits a similar idea on defense. Dallas used premium draft capital on Caleb Downs, Malachi Lawrence and Jaishawn Barham, which made its offseason priorities clear.

The Cowboys wanted to get faster and younger on defense after too many holes showed up last season. Baskerville would not arrive with expectations of a major role, but he could give Dallas another linebacker body to test in camp and on special teams.

The Cowboys have already shown they are willing to use the UFL as a depth market. They signed Denzel Mims, Ameer Speed and Chris Glaser on June 18 after making room with a few roster moves.

Jackson and Baskerville now look like the next names on that list. None of these additions changes the top of Dallas’ roster, but that is not really the point. The Cowboys are trying to find useful players at the margins, and after last season, they have enough weak spots to justify the search.
