Patriots Want To Play In Scotland After Tartan Army Takeover In Boston

Scotland’s Tartan Army made a big impression on New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft.

Last week, Scottish fans took over Boston to party while their team played in the World Cup.

The fans endeared themselves so much to the city that the Boston Globe penned a thank-you note to them in the newspaper.

“Dear Tartan Army,

“You came for the World Cup, but gave us something more.

“For a week, you turned train stations into sing-alongs, Fenway into a football ground, and an ordinary June into something we’ll be talking about for years.

“Boston has hosted championships, parades, and celebrations of every kind. But we’ve never hosted guests quite like you all.

“Thank you for the laughter, the bagpipes, and the memories. The World Cup will move on. So will the songs, but we’ll never forget the joy you brought to our city.”

According to the Boston Globe, Patriots owner Robert Kraft was so enamored with the Scottish fans that he told NFL commissioner Roger Goodell he was interested in hosting an NFL game in Scotland after experiencing the Tartan Army in person.

On the heels of the Tartan Army’s takeover in Boston, Robert Kraft has made it known to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that the Patriots would be interested in playing a game in Scotland.

Their conversation comes after Scotland played two group stage World Cup matches at Gillette Stadium, and injected the city with unrivaled revelry. Over the past week, the ever-amiable Scots, with their kilts, bagpipes, and seemingly unquenchable thirst for beer, enlivened everywhere from Patriot Place to Fenway Park to the Dubliner to Boston Harbor.

It seems only fitting that the Patriots head to Scotland next.

This week, the Tartan Army took over a Marlins game and provided a playoff atmosphere just with their presence.
