Liverpool are the most likely club to complete a deal to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig after reaching an agreement with the Ivorian on personal terms. They’ve also done more ‘leg work’ on this deal than the likes of PSG.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, journalist Lewis Steele reports at length that it is likely Liverpool will get a deal to sign Diomande done even despite RB Leipzig rejecting their opening bid.
The bid was a total package worth €100m, including an upfront bid and add-ons, but they will need to increase the bid to get a deal done, which Steele is likely.
He said: “I’ve been speaking to people from the Leipzig camp, from the Diamande camp and also from people in this country as well. As I said last week, I do, I really do, I do think this one will happen.
“I mean publicly they’re saying he’s not for sale but privately, I know privately, they’re sort of conceding the fact that they are going to have to sell him.
“They’re standing firm on their 130 million euro (£112m) valuation of Diamande. They might come down slightly, though.”

Liverpool reach personal terms agreement with Diomande as club side negotiations now the only barrier
Reports from Media Foot claim that Liverpool have reached an agreement with Diomande and his agents over a potential contract, with the only barrier to completing this deal now being an agreement with Leipzig.
Steele continued: “From the player side I think he definitely wants to move.
“I think there’s a little bit of frustration on the player side from what I’ve heard that it’s maybe taken a little bit longer than some people may have anticipated.
“They’re sort of resigned to the fact it might drag on after the World Cup, but they accept it. Liverpool could just pull their finger out and it’d be done in the next day or two.
“The first offer, of course, was £78.1 million plus £8 million in add ons. I do think Liverpool are undeterred by the fact that that first bid or maybe even second bid was rejected.
“I think they’re going to go again.” I think they really want the player. I think he’s the number one target this summer. The number one priority was a pacey winger, pacey wide man.
“Liverpool from all sides have done the most leg work on this one. So, I do think it’ll happen. I just said calm, calm, calm, calm, and it’ll all fall into place sooner rather than later.”
Diomande is the priority
Given the finances involved and the aggression with which Liverpool are pursuing him, it’s clear that Liverpool are making Diomande their priority this summer.
? Liverpool have reached an agreement on personal terms with Yan Diomande, according to reports.
? The player is now understood to have given the green light to the proposed contract.
Next steps will depend on club-to-club negotiations. ??

They moved quickly to sign Osasuna forward Victor Munoz when they sensed an opportunity to snatch him from Newcastle United, who were in advanced talks to get a deal done, but their attention returned swiftly to Diomande.
It’s not a surprise either, to see them chasing Diomande. While he may be only 19, it’s very clear that the Ivorian is going to be one of the best attackers in the world.
At Anfield, under Andoni Iraola, who specialises in rapid counter attacking football, he will platformed to be a massive success.
