Alex Scott emerged as a favourite of Andoni Iraola during his time at Bournemouth, and it is no surprise the 22-year-old is now being linked with Liverpool as they look to strengthen their midfield.
Reports earlier this month suggested Bournemouth value the England international at around £80m, with his contract running until 2028.
However, with only two years remaining, interested clubs could be in a stronger negotiating position if no extension is agreed.
Manchester United and Arsenal are also monitoring Scott’s situation. The midfielder enjoyed a strong season with Bournemouth and was close to earning a place in England’s World Cup squad.
According to the Daily Mail, any potential deal would likely need to be in the region of £60million. Bournemouth are keen to tie Scott down to a new contract, although that could prove difficult given the growing list of suitors.
Scott is a player widely regarded as one of the best young midfielders in the country and was also involved with England during their pre-tournament training camp in Florida.
Alex Scott was ever-present for Bournemouth last season, making 39 appearances in all competitions while contributing four goals and one assist.
Since joining from Bristol City, he has gone on to make 89 appearances for the Cherries. Andoni Iraola’s move to Anfield has only intensified speculation around a potential deal.
With Curtis Jones and Alexis Mac Allister both linked with possible departures, Scott is viewed internally as a strong option to reinforce the midfield – provided the price is right.
Alex Scott recently spoke about Liverpool’s style of play under new head coach Andoni Iraola, suggesting fans can expect a high-intensity approach similar to Jurgen Klopp’s early years at Anfield.
“He is obviously a great manager; you see what we have done as a club at Bournemouth and how we have progressed over the three seasons he was with us,” Scott, who worked under Iraola for the past three seasons at Bournemouth, said.
“I think the way we press out of possession is very aggressive, maybe similar to the early Klopp teams Liverpool had, that fierce aggressiveness and pressing with the wingers. I would say he is similar to that. Liverpool fans should definitely be so excited.”
