The I Paper claim that Tottenham are eyeing a move for the England international, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side planning an offer below his £40m release clause.

It has been reported that all teams, excluding Manchester City and Liverpool, can sign Rashford if they match the buyout fee.

Spurs are looking to do a deal for a lower amount, and they will also have a job on their hands persuading the player.

Rashford wants to move abroad

It is believed that the 28-year-old would prioritise a move back to Barcelona. The La Liga champions had the option to buy the player on a permanent basis for €30m (£26m), but that clause expired on June 15th.

The main issue for Barca was believed to be Rashford’s salary, but the forward is thought to be open to taking a pay cut for the right club. The chance to return to the Camp Nou may have slipped by, though.

The I Paper report that Rashford would also prefer to join Bayern Munich or revive his career at United, rather than move to another Premier League team.

Could he stay at Man Utd?

Barcelona are said to be only open to another loan deal, which is not something that the Red Devils will sanction. Bayern, meanwhile, are closing in on the signature of another winger, PSV Eindhoven’s Ismael Saibari.

With Rashford’s two favoured destinations seemingly ruled out, the question now is whether there could be a dramatic U-turn on his future at United. When Manager Michael Carrick was asked about the player’s situation in April, he didn’t rule anything out:

“Whoever’s here, I want to work with them and help them to improve.”
