Eduardo Camavinga arrived at Real Madrid in the summer of 2021 at the age of 18, regarded as one of the most promising midfielders in Europe.
However, his progress has not fully met expectations, and after completing his fifth season at the Bernabeu, reports suggest the club could be open to a sale.
New manager Jose Mourinho is leading a squad rebuild following two underwhelming seasons, with Camavinga among the players considered potentially available.
The French midfielder is viewed as inconsistent in a role that has yet to fully settle at the club, prompting discussions about his future as Real Madrid look to raise funds for reinforcements.
Despite being just 23, the new project reportedly involves bringing in more experienced midfielders, with names such as Bernardo Silva and Enzo Fernández linked. To facilitate arrivals, departures would be required, and Camavinga is among those being discussed.
Several clubs are said to be monitoring his situation. Paris Saint-Germain, who previously competed for his signature during his time at Rennes, remain interested and could make a move if an opportunity arises.
Liverpool were also previously linked with Camavinga before his move to Madrid. According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Liverpool, along with Manchester United, Juventus, and Chelsea, have made enquiries regarding his situation.
Camavinga remains under contract until 2029 and carries a €1billion release clause. Real Madrid value him at around €60million, despite signing him for €31million plus €9million in add-ons.
However, any potential exit is complicated by the player’s desire to stay and fight for his place. The defensive midfielder will compete for minutes in a midfield that includes Aurelien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde, alongside emerging competition from new arrivals.
Camavinga already has significant experience, having made over 200 appearances for Real Madrid and more than 80 for Rennes. Last season, he racked up 43 appearances, scored two goals, and provided one assist for Real Madrid in all competitions
Camavinga, who was not named in the France squad for this summer’s World Cup, may need convincing to consider a move.
If he cannot be assured regular playing time next season, he could become open to a departure, despite his current desire to stay and fight for his place.
