NFL announces there will be no supplemental draft despite Brendan Sorsby’s application

The NFL has announced that it will not conduct a supplemental draft in 2026.

This is notable because Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sosrby applied for the supplemental draft.

Sorsby was set to play the 2026 season at Texas Tech, but his eligibility was thrown up in the air as the NCAA investigated allegations of gambling.

While the potential for Sorsby to enter the supplemental draft generated no shortage of buzz in the media, there was reason to believe that the NFL might not allow him to play in 2026. The league has not looked fondly on players entering the supplemental draft to escape discipline in college. Notably the NFL upheld a five game college suspension for Terrelle Pryor in 2011. Pryor entered the supplemental draft that year after the suspension was handed down.

Sorsby’s representation [has suggested](https://x.com/PeteThamel/status/2069477193667752074) that he will appeal this ruling, although it isn’t clear why Sorsby thinks he can force the NFL to hold a supplemental draft.
