Arsenal transfer news: Gunners denied in hunt for Georgian prodigy
Arsenal transfer news: The rumour mill has overstepped the mark. Reports doing the rounds suggested Arsenal had wrapped up a £4.5 million deal for Iberia 1999’s teenage midfielder, Andria Bartishvili. They haven’t. TalkSPORT broke the news first, knocking back claims that the transfer is a done deal.
The player himself has pulled the plug on the gossip. Bartishvili confirmed his future is still very much up in the air, with negotiations open to anyone. Mikel Arteta wants him, but Liverpool and Paris FC are actively trying to hijack the move. The 17-year-old playmaker has a plan, though. He is delaying his big decision until after featuring in an upcoming Champions League qualifier.
Even if the North London club win this transfer race, they cannot actually log the paperwork yet. FIFA rules mean the youngster cannot move to England until his 18th birthday in March 2027. It is a waiting game.
