The wait for NFL training camp is nearly over, and the San Francisco 49ers will be among the first teams around the league to welcome players back for the start of preparations for the 2026 season.
According to the NFL’s official training camp schedule, the 49ers’ rookies are scheduled to report to the SAP Performance Facility in Santa Clara on July 18, while veterans will arrive one week later on July 25.

More on NFL Training Camp Dates
Quarterback Brock Purdy enters the season looking to lead San Francisco back into Super Bowl contention, while stars such as Christian McCaffrey, Trent Williams, and George Kittle are expected to have their workloads managed throughout camp.
The early report dates will also provide an important opportunity for the 49ers’ rookie class to acclimate to the NFL before the veterans arrive. Position battles along the offensive line, depth at running back, and the development of younger receivers are expected to be among the biggest storylines to monitor during camp.

San Francisco’s camp will once again take place at the team’s headquarters in Santa Clara, with the first full-team practices beginning shortly after the veterans report.
The NFL has also announced that the 49ers will participate in a pair of joint practices later in the preseason, hosting the Tennessee Titans on Aug. 11 before traveling to Southern California for a session with the Los Angeles Chargers on Aug. 18.
With several teams not welcoming veterans until July 28, the 49ers’ earlier timeline provides Shanahan and his coaching staff additional time to evaluate young talent and establish chemistry before preseason games begin.
For fans eager for football’s return, the beginning of NFL training camp marks the unofficial start of the season, and the 49ers will officially kick off that journey when their rookies report to Santa Clara on July 18.
