SIOUX CENTER, IA (KTIV) - Youth football players from across Siouxland joined three NFL players for the annual Day with the Pros youth camp put on by Snap on Fitness.
The young athletes ran drills with the pros while building a love for football.
Current Minnesota Vikings player Andrew Van Ginkel, current Tampa Bay Buccaneer Ko Kieft and recently retired NFL player Brandon Scherff were in town putting young athletes through the paces.
Van Ginkel said the camp is about giving back to the community.
“Obviously coming back to our hometowns and getting a bunch of local kids to come out and just show them about the game of football to have some fun, see some smiles, and sign autographs,” Van Ginkel said. “We do it for the kids, and that’s ultimately why we’re here. It’s exciting to get back.”
For the kids, the camp was a chance to spend time with players they watch on TV in the fall.
“It feels really good. It feels like they are the coaches, like they’re NFL coaches and you’re like the players,” Carson Lang said.
All proceeds from the camp and silent auction went to nonprofit organizations.
