Leeds United in 'positive talks' to seal bargain summer transfer as Man Utd and Aston Villa eye …

The 2026 summer transfer window is starting to come alive, as Premier League clubs begin to turn interest into concrete proposals, and look to bag themselves some new signings before the start of September. Plenty of clubs have some serious rebuilding to do, with a number of new managers looking to oversee major squad overhauls over the next few weeks.

With hundreds of elite footballers currently playing at the FIFA World Cup in North America, things aren’t perhaps moving as quickly as they normally do in the summer window, but we’re expecting business to be booming once the tournament has concluded and players return their focus to club matters.

We’ll kick off today’s transfer rumours round-up at Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea are preparing themselves to lose vice-captain Enzo Fernandez to Real Madrid, after already seeing star left-back Marc Cucurella make the same move. According to Caught Offside, Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams is now on their radar.

The report claims that both the Blues and Man United are “keeping a close eye” on the USA international, who it’s said could be sold if a bid in the region of £30m is lodged. New Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso is said to be eager to sign a defensive, ball-winning midfielder who can complement the more technical operators already at their disposal.

The 3AM Verdict: There would be an uproar among Blues fans if they replaced Fernandez with Adams, given the gulf in calibre between the two players. Chelsea already have more defensively-minded midfielders in the form of Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo as backup for Moises Caicedo, so you’d imagine one of them would have to leave for this deal to make sense.

Up in Leeds, Daniel Farke’s side are looking to kick on next season and establish themselves as a top tier powerhouse once again after succeeding in avoiding relegation in the 2025/26 campaign. They’ll be looking to snap up some fresh signings over the summer months, and have been linked with Fulham’s Harry Wilson for a number of weeks.

The Athletic say that the Whites are still making progress in their attempts to sign the Wales international, whose contract expires at the end of the month. Leeds are apparently in “positive talks” with the playmaker’s entourage, but it’s noted that other clubs are also in the mix. Tottenham and Aston Villa, for example, were said to have been in touch towards the end of last season.

The 3AM Verdict: Wilson may be moving past his prime at 29-years-old, but he’s still a top class Premier League operator and netted eleven goals in the top tier last season. There will certainly be competition for Leeds to fend off, but the opportunity to play every week alongside international teammates Daniel James, Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu might just lure him to Elland Road.

Our final story takes us to Sunderland, where their striker Brian Brobbey is attracting plenty of interest after lighting up the World Cup with the Netherlands. The ex-Ajax striker scored twice as his side hammered Sweden 5-1 over the weekend, and Team Talk claim Man United, Spurs, Chelsea and Aston Villa are all keeping tabs on the £22m gem.

Sunderland are said to be unwilling to consider a sale, and view Brobbey as an integral part of their plans going forward. Despite only joining the club last summer, he could now be offered a contract extension with improved terms, in a bid to ward off interest from Premier League clubs and ones from further afield, including Atletico Madrid and Juventus.

The 3AM Verdict: Brobbey didn’t exactly tear up the Premier League last season, but gave a decent account of himself on his debut campaign, scoring seven goals in 31 matches. If he were to join any of the Premier League quartet mentioned, he’d be going there as a backup option. He should stay with Sunderland for now, and enjoy the Europa League adventure next season as the main man up top.
