Arsenal star praises former teammate Kieran Tierney before Brazil blockbuster

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has sent a light-hearted warning to former teammate Kieran Tierney ahead of Scotland’s clash with Brazil tomorrow night.

The pair arrived at Arsenal during the same transfer window in 2019 and quickly developed a strong friendship during their time together in North London.

Although Tierney has since returned to Celtic, Martinelli says the Scotland international remains one of the people he holds in the highest regard in football.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s encounter, the Brazilian international reflected on their relationship and praised Tierney’s character as well as his recent success with the Scottish champions.

Gabriel Martinelli on former Arsenal team-mate Kieran Tierney:

“He’s my guy. He’s one of the best guys I’ve met in football. He’s so kind and so humble as well. So rapid! We used to joke who was the quickest in the sessions, in my opinion it was always him… I’m always… pic.twitter.com/0lgYjoJ64C

“Yeah, he’s my guy,” the Brazilian attacker said via Hayters TV. “When I got to Arsenal he came the same year. He’s one of the best guys I’ve met in football.

“He’s so kind and so humble as well. So rapid as well! We used to joke who was the quickest in the sessions, in my opinion it was him.

“He’s a great player, he’s doing well in Scotland now. They (Celtic) just won the league so happy for him. I hope he doesn’t play so well against us I’m always cheering for him.”
