NUFC now eyeing 'explosive' forward to replace Gordon after Munoz hijack, he is a handful for…

Newcastle United have identified Cologne winger Said El Mala as a potential replacement for Anthony Gordon, according to the Daily Mail.

The Magpies also continue to monitor Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo ahead of the new season.

Newcastle are eager to strengthen their frontline after Gordon’s departure weeks ago and have turned their attention to some of Europe’s brightest young talents.

El Mala has emerged as a leading candidate, with Newcastle maintaining a long-standing interest in the highly-rated Germany Under-21 international.

The Magpies have already suffered one transfer setback this summer after missing out on Victor Munoz.

Newcastle had agreed a deal for the rapid winger only for Liverpool to swoop in and activate the player’s £34.6 million release clause.

That disappointment has left the Geordies looking for alternative options, with El Mala now firmly back on the radar.

The 19-year-old enjoyed an outstanding campaign for Cologne last season, registering 13 goals and five assists. He is a handful for any full-back.

El Mala is an ‘explosive‘ forward who can change games in the blink of an eye.

He earned widespread praise for his pace, technical ability and eye for spectacular long-range finishes.

El Mala has already attracted Premier League interest. Brighton & Hove Albion attempted to sign him, and Brentford saw a reported £43 million bid accepted.

However, the move collapsed after the player’s representatives decided it was not the right destination, with discussions also involving the future of his older brother, Malek.

Newcastle remain in contact over Fernandez-Pardo, whose versatility makes him another attractive option.

Fernandez-Pardo can play through the middle or on either flank, offering Eddie Howe valuable tactical flexibility.

Unfortunately, Liverpool could again complicate Newcastle’s plans, with the Reds viewing El Mala as an alternative if they fail to land Yan Diomande or Bradley Barcola.

Newcastle need to get their act together quickly.

After missing out on several targets last summer, their targets are being hijacked again. The Magpies need to move wisely.
