Hull City are reportedly eyeing an ambitious move to sign midfielder Tim Iroegbunam from Everton.

A former England youth international, Iroegbunam made the move to Merseyside from Aston Villa in the summer of 2024. He is currently two years into the three-year deal he signed to complete the £9m move.

The 22-year-old has made a total of 52 appearances for the Toffees, but was only afforded 17 league starts last term.

Hull City linked with Everton midfielder

According to Hull Live, newly-promoted Hull are eyeing a move to prise the former Queens Park Rangers loanee from the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

He is said to be of significant interest to the Tigers, who are gearing up for life in the Premier League after securing promotion via the Championship play-offs.

It has been suggested Everton are open to sanctioning an exit for Iroegbunam if Hull are willing to meet their asking price.

A fee in the region of £20m has been mooted, which will reportedly not be an issue for the Tigers.

Primarily a defensive midfielder, Iroegbunam cut his teeth with West Bromwich Albion and made their bench for a trip to Leeds United in May 2021. He then moved on to Villa, making 19 appearances before Everton came calling three years later.

Steven Gerrard’s praise for Tim Iroegbunam

In 2022, then-Villa boss Steven Gerrard claimed Iroegbunam had the attributes required to become a “top Premier League player”.

As reported by Birmingham Live, he said: “I think you can see the profile, what he is going to become. He can get around the grass quickly, he can cover ground quickly, he’s aggressive. He’s a real good professional, he needs to find his voice and come out of his shell now.

“He’s got all the attributes to be a top Premier League player in my opinion. We’ll keep working to develop him, he’s got a real exciting future ahead of him.”
