Chelsea consider shock transfer for Leeds United player – ‘Dream move’ to Blues

Chelsea have added Leeds United‘s Gabriel Gudmundsson to their target list for this summer.

The Blues sold Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid for €50m plus bonuses earlier this month.

Chelsea are looking for a new left-back and are considering a few names, including the Leeds United player.

Daniel Farke’s side signed the Sweden international from Lille in July 2025, to replace Junior Firpo.

He has enjoyed an impressive debut season with the Whites, playing 2,936 minutes from 29 matches. On June 9th, the 27-year-old told the Swedish media he’s enjoying life at Elland Road and praised Leeds United fans.

Chelsea discuss Leeds United player

Expressen in Sweden have a report on him titled: ‘Chelsea interested in Gabriel Gudmundsson’, and make it clear it’s their own information.

Chelsea have been evaluating a few players to replace Marc Cucurella and have internally discussed the Leeds United player. His strong debut season with the Whites has impressed them.

The Swede could make an ‘unexpected move’ to Stamford Bridge if Chelsea were to make the right offer. There’s no mention of Leeds United’s demands or the fee the west London club could offer.

If Xabi Alonso’s side submit a tempting offer, Gudmundsson could ‘get a dream move’ to the English capital.

For now, Chelsea are keen on signing the World Cup defender, but there’s been no contact with him or the Whites.

Leeds United stance unclear

Daniel Farke’s side invested around SEK 134m [€12m] to buy Gabriel Gudmundsson. He has a contract until 2029, and Transfermarkt value him at €20m.

His value was €7m in June 2025 and his impressive performances for Leeds United have resulted in a €13m rise. This also indicates his importance to his club, who would like to keen the player.

If Chelsea convert their interest into a bid, Farke and the Whites have to make a decision on the Swede. Any transfer will obviously have to be at way above the Transfermarkt figure.
