Julian Alvarez’s future has been thrown into fresh doubt after the Atletico Madrid striker publicly revealed he wants to leave the Spanish club, with reports now suggesting Arsenal are monitoring the situation closely ahead of a potential summer move.
The Argentina international stunned the football world by admitting that he had informed Atletico officials of his desire to seek a transfer, saying it would be “the best thing for everyone” as he looks to “fulfil his dream.” The comments came while Alvarez was away with Argentina at the 2026 World Cup and have intensified speculation surrounding one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards.
Arsenal have long been linked with the 26-year-old and are understood to remain interested as manager Mikel Arteta searches for a world-class striker capable of leading the club’s attack.
Reports in Spain and England claim the Gunners have been encouraged by indications that Alvarez would be open to considering a move to north London if his preferred destination fails to materialise.
Barcelona are widely regarded as Alvarez’s first-choice option, with several reports suggesting the Catalan giants have identified him as a priority target.
