The 2026/27 Premier League campaign is right around the corner. Arsenal are aiming to defend their title, with Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea all trying to take it.
For AFC Bournemouth, it’s a season like no other. Andoni Iraola has left the Cherries and taken over at Liverpool, whilst Marco Rose is entering his first season in English management, bringing his experience of European football to the south coast.
For the first time in 127 years of football, the Cherries will enjoy a European campaign, entering the UEFA Europa League. That draw will take place in August, so first up, plan your calendars around the domestic campaign.

A dramatic late winner by Semenyo against Tottenham had been followed up with a draw away at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Evanilson and Alex Jimenez had put the Cherries into a 2-0 lead, but Liverpool pegged the Cherries back level with goals from Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai, the equaliser coming in the 80th minute.
But AFC Bournemouth and Liverpool have enjoyed many dramatic games, and this was another when Amine Adli scored from close range in the fifth minute of stoppage time to take the victory with the last kick of the game.

Has anything changed at Liverpool?
Former AFC Bournemouth director Richard Hughes is part of the team involved in the hiring and firing and recruitment at Liverpool; he was part of the decision to replace Jurgen Klopp with Arne Slot, which saw Liverpool win the Premier League title in 2025.
He was then part of the decision process to sack Arne Slot and replace him with former AFC Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola just a year later.
The squad is having somewhat of an overhaul as well this summer; 12 players have been released, including Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate.
20-year-old defender Jeremy Jacquet has arrived from Stade Rennais, whilst they have also been linked, obviously, with various AFC Bournemouth players.
Transfermarkt value comparison (as of 23rd June 2026)
AFC Bournemouth – €565.70m
Liverpool – €939.50m
Prediction for Liverpool this season?
The appointment of Andoni Iraola, seeing him link up with Richard Hughes for a second time, raised a few eyebrows, similar to his first appointment in English football with AFC Bournemouth.
Whilst Iraola has more than proved himself ready for a step up to an elite club. Many will question his relative inexperience in such a big job.
All AFC Bournemouth supporters will know that Iraola, if given the chance, will make a success of his move to Anfield and his brand of exciting football will prove popular with the Liverpool supporters.
If, Liverpool make some moves in the transfer window, they will prove to be title challengers under Iraola.
