Manchester United’s players remain under the spotlight during the World Cup as attention turns to their performances on the international stage.

England entered their latest fixture hoping to secure qualification from Group L but were unable to find a breakthrough.

The Three Lions struggled to create clear opportunities as Ghana’s defensive approach frustrated them throughout the match.

The result leaves England in a strong position to progress, although they will need to finish the group stage strongly.

Marcus Rashford was one of the players discussed after another appearance from the bench.

He did come away from the Croatia game with slight discomfort but he was fit enough to come off the bench against Ghana.

Marcus Rashford received mixed reviews from English media after coming on late during England’s disappointing 0-0 draw against Ghana at the 2026 World Cup.

The Manchester United forward was introduced in the 83rd minute as Thomas Tuchel looked for a spark in attack, but England struggled to break down a disciplined Ghana side.

Ghana, managed by Carlos Queiroz, remained organised from the opening whistle and successfully limited England’s attacking threat until the final moments.

The Guardian gave Rashford a 6/10 rating and highlighted his frustration after being brought on late.

They wrote, “Looked frustrated after coming off bench.”

The same publication noted that Marcus Rashford had limited time to influence proceedings after entering the match so late.

England outlet The Sun also handed the forward a 6/10 assessment following his brief appearance.

However, The Independent was more positive, awarding Rashford a 7/10 and questioning why he was not introduced earlier.

They said, “The main question is: why did it take Tuchel until 82 minutes to bring him in? Immediately looked threatening on the left: direct and brave on the ball. Should start against Panama.”

His late introduction against Ghana meant he had little opportunity to influence a match where England’s attack struggled for rhythm.

BBC Sport also praised the moments he provided after entering the game, giving him a 6/10 rating and saying, “Introduced as a late substitute and had bright moments but but didn’t have much time to impact game.”

Despite the frustration of a limited cameo, Marcus Rashford remains an important attacking option for England as they push towards the knockout stages.
