The goalkeeper situation remains one of the areas attracting attention after major changes between the posts at Old Trafford.

United have already seen one major shift with the emergence of a new first-choice goalkeeper.

That has left Andre Onana facing questions over where his future lies after spending last season away from the club.

The Cameroon international now has interest from Turkey as talks continue over a possible permanent exit.

Andre Onana has officially returned to Manchester United following the end of his loan spell at Trabzonspor, but the Turkish club are working to bring him back on a permanent basis.

Onana spent the previous campaign in Turkey after falling down the goalkeeper pecking order at Old Trafford, and his performances during his loan spell helped rebuild his reputation.

However, his long-term future is still expected to be away from Manchester, especially after Senne Lammens enjoyed an impressive debut season and is viewed as the preferred option going forward.

Trabzonspor have made Onana their priority target as they look to strengthen their goalkeeping position and have already submitted an offer to the former Inter Milan goalkeeper.

The Turkish side want a decision before the end of their training camp and are continuing negotiations in the hope of securing an agreement.

Club president Ertugrul Dogan has publicly addressed the talks and remains confident a deal can be reached.

Dogan said, “We speak with Onana every day.

“We won’t have any financial difficulties. We’ll make the necessary sacrifices. I don’t think we will experience any setbacks.

“But if we do, we will find another goalkeeper of the same quality.”

Despite their confidence, Trabzonspor have already identified a backup option if negotiations with Onana collapse.

Trabzonspor open talks with Jose Sa

The club have opened discussions with Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa, with initial contact described as positive, as reported by Sabah.

The Portuguese goalkeeper has attracted interest from head coach Fatih Tekke, who would like the deal completed if an agreement cannot be reached for Andre Onana.

The 33-year-old remains under contract with Wolves until 2027, with the option of an additional year, despite the club dropping out of the Premier League.

Jose Sa has been involved in Portugal’s 2026 World Cup campaign and featured 24 times during the season, keeping 4 clean sheets while conceding 41 goals.

Andre Onana’s successful loan spell has created interest, but the rise of Lammens has made a return to a leading role at United increasingly unlikely.
