Man Utd have revived their interest in Brian Brobbey as they seek a new striker to provide competition for Benjamin Sesko, according to reports.
The Red Devils are expected to part ways with Joshua Zirkzee before the end of the transfer window, and his fellow Dutchman appears to be one of the names under consideration to replace him.
TEAMtalk claim that Michael Carrick’s side are “keen” on recruiting Brobbey, but they are just one of four Premier League teams in the mix.

Chelsea, Aston Villa and Tottenham are also said to be vying for the Sunderland forward’s signature.
Brobbey was a target for ten Hag
Speaking in January 2024, eighteen months after moving to Ajax from RB Leipzig, the forward revealed he had a phone chat with then United boss Erik ten Hag about making the switch to Old Trafford:
“Erik ten Hag called me and said that at United, my agent would get millions of euros and I could earn a multiple of my Ajax salary,” he said. “But our decision was clear: we wanted to go to Ajax. Manchester United wanted to have me, but I insisted on returning to Ajax.”
It is believed that ten Hag also tried to buy Brobbey when he was at Ajax. He ultimately joined Sunderland last year in a deal worth up to €25m (£21.5m).
Will Man Utd sell Zirkzee?
It is expected that a move for Brobbey or another centre-forward will only happen once United have found a buyer for Sesko’s current understudy.
There have been conflicting reports on whether Zirkzee is actually pushing to leave. Some suggest that he is unhappy with his lack of first team football, while others claim he is determined to win over Michael Carrick.
You do feel, though, that if the Red Devils do receive a satisfactory offer for the striker over the coming days and weeks, he will be offloaded. Roma did try to recruit him in January, and you can’t rule out the Giallorossi or another Serie A side tabling a bid. The player is still well regarded in Italy after a decent spell at Bologna.
