Arsenal could reportedly be offered the chance to sign Julian Alvarez in a sensational swap deal involving Viktor Gyökeres this summer.
The Gunners’ interest in the Atletico Madrid striker has been well documented in recent months, with Mikel Arteta believed to be a huge admirer of the Argentina international.
However, reports in recent weeks have suggested that Alvarez would prefer a move to Barcelona if he were to leave Diego Simeone’s side.
Following Argentina’s World Cup victory over Austria last night, Alvarez made a significant statement regarding his future.
“I don’t think it’s the right moment to talk, but I also don’t want to hide.
I try to be an honest person. I spoke with the people at Atlético who I needed to speak with. I think the best thing for everyone is a transfer. I want to fulfill my dream.”
Reports have since claimed that Atletico Madrid are reluctant to sell Alvarez to Barcelona due to the strained relationship between the two clubs.

Arsenal are expected to make several important decisions regarding the composition of the squad this summer. While strengthening key areas remains a priority, the club could also consider offers for certain players if it helps fund new arrivals and maintain financial flexibility.
Securing the futures of key players remains just as important as making new signings. Arsenal have worked hard to build one of the strongest squads in Europe, and maintaining stability within the group will be crucial as the club looks to continue competing for major honours.
