Sheffield Wednesday have been credited with interest in an outgoing Everton defender
Sheffield Wednesday are keen on signing defender Reece Welch upon the expiry of his Everton contract, according to a report.
The 22-year-old showed plenty of promise during his ascent through the Toffees academy ranks and represented England at various youth level.s
He was exposed to senior football during loan spells at Forest Green Rovers and Deinze but failed to make a first-team breakthrough in Merseyside.
Wednesday were linked with Welch in the build-up to the last winter transfer window and talk of Owls interest has now resurfaced.

Sheffield Wednesday ‘keen’ on Reece Welch
Football Insider have claimed the South Yorkshire club are keen to get Welch on board ahead of their return to League One.
The centre-back did not make Everton’s list of retained players and will officially become a free agent when his contract runs out next week.
However, Welch is also thought to have attracted interest from Danish outfit Horsens, and has previously been linked with Freiburg of the German top flight.
Welch may not have managed a breakthrough at the Hill Dickinson Stadium but the England youth caps on his CV serve as an example of the quality he possesses.
Whether he can make an impression in the EFL remains to be seen, but it is not difficult to understand the appeal to Wednesday.
