Tottenham are pushing hard to sign a Premier League winger.
Tottenham Hotspur fans have received a “here we go” from reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano for the signings of goalkeeper Martin Dubravka. The 37-year-old will become the North London club’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window, adding a wealth of Premier League and international experience to Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.
Spurs are focused on reinforcing the midfield and attack now. Talks with Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali and West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes continue, as De Zerbi looks to add both to his team’s engine room. This is in addition to the Italian tactician wanting to turn Joao Palhinha’s loan from Bayern Munich into a permanent deal.
The Lilywhites have identified Savinho of Manchester City to improve their options in wide areas, and despite bitter rivals Arsenal making a shock offer to sign the youngster, we appear to be the club best placed to land him this summer. Now, a fresh update on Savinho has emerged.
Tottenham open initial talks with Savinho’s staff
According to Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte, Tottenham have opened initial talks with Manchester City and Savinho’s representatives over a move. They also participated in a meeting with Man City executives to discuss potential deals. The Sky Blues would be willing to sell the Brazilian international for around €50m, with the winger also attracting interest from Clube Atlético Mineiro in his home nation.
The latest update shows Tottenham are pushing hard to bring Savinho to North London. The Hotspur Way chiefs are wary of their mistakes from last year and do not want to make negotiations arduous with Man City this time around. Savinho was keen to join the Lilywhites last year, and his appetite to become a part of the team has only increased following De Zerbi’s arrival.
Under De Zerbi’s watchful eyes, the 22-year-old can hugely develop as a player, both technically and tactically. Savinho’s growth was stunted at City this past season thanks to injuries and intense internal competition. With Pep Guardiola gone and likely to be replaced by Enzo Maresca, the player perhaps feels the need to change the environment to get his career back on track. And a move to Spurs could help him regain his mojo and unlock his true potential.
Tottenham want to enhance their first XI with a starting winger, and Savinho fits the bill, with the South American trickster having the added bonus of being able to operate on both flanks and in the No.10 role too.
