Arsenal have got a response from one of their key transfer targets this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano, as the club continue to monitor potential additions to the forward line.
The Gunners have been looking at players who could make a difference next season, following a successful campaign that ended with lifting the Premier League trophy.
There is a desire to retain the title, however, as well as hope that the Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup could all be claimed along the way too.
While the backline needs little work, there is a clear need to add a player or two who can bring something different up front and can change the dynamic of a game in an instant.
One of the targets viewed as an option to do that is Julian Alvarez, who Arsenal now seemingly have an answer from over a prospective move to North London.

Arsenal continue to be linked with a move for Julian Alvarez, who appears to be wrapped up in one of the transfer sagas of the summer.
The forward has been the subject of interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid, who have both made their interest public, while Atletico Madrid have attempted to hit back with their own defence in trying to keep the star.
That was all shaken up when Alvarez announced his desire to leave the Rojiblancos and pursue a transfer to achieve his dreams in football.
That may have opened the door to Arsenal, with the striker described as a "dream signing" and 'Europe's most sought-after striker', who have made contact to land the forward in recent times.
Fabrizio Romano claims that the Gunners got a response when speaking to the player's entourage, and said on his YouTube channel: "Two clubs have also tried to enter the Julian Alvarez story trying to understand if the impasse between Barca and Atletico could open the doors for new possibilities.
"One club is PSG. PSG have tried. Also Arsenal have made an approach to Alvarez and his camp, but the answer from the player has been 'thanks, but I want to go to Barcelona'. This is what Julian told Arsenal and PSG."
It's a potential blow to Arsenal, who will likely look at other possible targets in the transfer window. It remains to be seen whether that stance could change if the situation remains the same, however.

While a move to Arsenal remains unlikely for Alvarez, there is still a slim possibility that things could still work out for the Gunners in the coming weeks of the window.
Attention is likely to turn elsewhere, with talks underway to sign Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, while Morgan Rogers is another transfer target in the forward areas.
However, if the transfer window drags on and Barcelona can't seal a deal, then Arsenal may be in pole position to sign Alvarez instead of the Blaugrana.

There are a few things going in the club's favour. One is that they aren't direct rivals to Atletico, which may make it easier for them to sanction a deal for such an important player.
The second is that Arsenal definitely have enough to make a compelling offer for a player who is likely to command a rather hefty transfer fee.
It's not the most proactive approach to a move, but the player's current stance means there's little else the North London outfit can do.
But they could still lurk in the background and make a move happen, if things change later in the transfer window.
