DM: PL side plotting ambitious move for'outstanding'Man United youngster

Premier League newcomers Hull City are considering a move for Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek, according to the Daily Mail.

Hull beat Middlesbrough in the Championship play-off final last month, securing a return to the top-flight for the first time in nine years.

The Tigers are now aiming to strengthen the goalkeeper position in this summer’s transfer window.

Why Hull are targeting Vitek

Vitek first showed his readiness for first-team football during a loan spell at Austrian side BW Linz in the 2024/25 campaign. He kept seven clean sheets in 28 appearances.

He then impressed on loan at Bristol City last season, keeping 12 clean sheets in 41 appearances, earning the club’s Player of the Season award.

The 22-year-old averaged the joint-highest saves per game, and ranked fourth for goals prevented in the Championship, outperforming Hull’s Ivor Pandur in both metrics.

Vitek was also decent with the ball at his feet, recording 62 percent pass accuracy per appearance, higher than Pandur’s 54%.

Following a 1-0 victory at Norwich City, former Bristol City manager Gerhard Struber praised the young shot-stopper.

“Very impressed, very impressed, and sometimes even a little bit surprised. He’s 21 years old, and he looks like an outstanding, experienced Championship goalkeeper.

“In this direction, he’s highly talented – I’ve told you this many times – high potential, and today, again, we can see the consistency in his performances. This makes him very, very interesting for sure.”

That said, Vitek has to be assured of getting enough game time before exploring a move to Hull, with the club reportedly pushing to sign two goalkeepers.

The Tigers have already been linked with Sporting Braga’s Lukas Hornicek and Bayern Munich’s Alexander Nubel, both of whom are more experienced than Vitek.

United are open to selling the former Czechia youth international.
