Liverpool legend Jurgen Klopp says England shouldn't panic about drawing with Ghana, issuing a clear verdict on Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel.
In its second World Cup game, England performed well below par in an attacking sense, with Anthony Gordon and Noni Madueke struggling to break down a packed defense. That may be the last time that they face such a compact opponent at the tournament, though, with the opposition in the knockout phase likely to be more adventurous.
"Thomas Tuchel is an outstanding coach, but sometimes outstanding coaches have to draw," Klopp said as he spoke to a group of reporters in the US.
"Crazy, yeah? It's crazy," he added. "Sometimes you don't score. Sometimes you are unlucky and all these kinds of things. It cannot change my mind (about Tuchel). He is exceptional.
"The first game was super. It was really good; tight. Maybe tighter than everybody wanted, but they won it. I couldn't watch (England vs Ghana) but seeing the result, I know how the British media are. So stay calm."
Jamie Carragher was among the pundits to suggest that Tuchel should perhaps have taken some more 'game-changers' to the tournament, with the likes of Cole Palmer and Trent Alexander-Arnold left at home.

"When Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice play between the lines against a defense set-up like this, you either need a bit of magic from them outside the box, or the wingers to deliver far more than they are currently doing," Carragher wrote for The Telegraph at half-time.
"That’s England’s problem here. The longer this goes on, the more we must look to the bench and ask who can come on and make a difference?
"Rice and Bellingham are all about power and energy; they aren’t magicians in the spaces between the lines. If this continues, the debate will start regarding Cole Palmer’s absence, and we’ve seen so many games like this in major tournaments.
"Those who championed Palmer’s inclusion foresaw tactical conundrums like this — which is why some of us thought it better to have him as an option."

Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024 and was replaced by Arne Slot, was also asked about a potential return to coaching again and whether he might return to the game in the future.
"Yeah, yeah," he said with a smile. "I do it (coaching) every day, actually, to myself in the morning. 'Get up!' and these kinds of things... We will see. Who knows?"
Liverpool.com says: Seeing how relaxed Klopp is and how much he is enjoying his new life, it is hard to imagine him going back into management. You can never say never, but it seems highly unlikely.
