Erik ten Hag is already making moves ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The former Manchester United manager has wasted little time identifying areas that require strengthening.
Manchester United themselves remain active in the market.
Alongside targeting new midfield additions, the Red Devils are also looking to offload several players.
Manuel Ugarte, who was signed during Ten Hag’s tenure at United, is among those who could depart as the club are reportedly willing to accept a loss on the Uruguayan midfielder.
Erik ten Hag knows all about rebuilding squads.
The Dutchman was dismissed by Manchester United in October 2024, but still left Old Trafford having won both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup during his spell in charge.
Earlier this year, we covered that Ten Hag had officially returned to former club FC Twente.
The 56-year-old took up the role of technical director as he prepares to oversee the club’s long-term football strategy.
That move came only months after he was sacked as Bayer Leverkusen manager after just three games in charge.
FC Twente complete first signing
Now, FC Twente have officially confirmed their first signing of the 2026/27 season.
In a statement published on the club’s official website, FC Twente announced the arrival of Polish defender Krzysztof Kurowski from Slask Wroclaw.
The club also shared an image of the former United boss alongside his latest recruit
The 19-year-old left-back has signed a contract running until 2030, with the Eredivisie side also holding the option to extend the agreement by a further year.
Speaking after the deal was completed, Ten Hag said: “Krzysztof is a young, talented defender who has already gained first-team experience in the Polish league at a young age.
“Krzysztof has a strong character, good game intelligence, and an attacking drive. At FC Twente, he gets the chance to take the next step in his career; he has that potential.”
Kurowski made his senior debut for Slask Wroclaw in August 2023.
He has already represented Poland at both Under-17 and Under-19 level.
The move represents the first major piece of business for Erik ten Hag this summer.
Supporters are likely hoping it is the first of many additions as preparations continue for the new season.
