"I hope he gets lucky and joins Real Madrid now too" - Marc Cucurella wants ex-Chelsea teammate to join him at Los Blancos

New Real Madrid signing Marc Cucurella wants Enzo Fernandez to follow him from Chelsea. He claimed that the midfielder congratulated him on the move, and hopes that the Argentine joins him at Santiago Bernabeu.

Speaking to the media, Cucurella hinted that Fernandez is keen on joining Real Madrid this summer. The Spaniard hailed the midfielder as a great player, adding that they are good friends too. He said:

"He's a great player and a friend of mine. He congratulated me on the signing. I hope it happens. I would be very happy. We were very happy at Chelsea, and to have the opportunity to both sign for Real Madrid in the same summer. I hope he's lucky and becomes a Real Madrid player." (via Madrid Zone)

Cucurella completed his move to Bernabeu earlier this month, just hours before Spain kicked off their FIFA World Cup campaign. The Blues agreed a €60 million deal to sell the defender, who admitted that Jose Mourinho played a key role in the decision.

“Mourinho told me he was really looking forward to working with me, that I would adapt very well, and that Real Madrid was a great club. I’m very happy for this confidence. I can’t wait to start working with him.”

Despite his connections with Barcelona and interest from the Catalan side this summer, Cucurella said that he was not bothered about the hate. He said:

“The move to Real Madrid all happened in a day and a half or two. For me, it’s much better, much faster, no headaches. Everything was done (before the first World Cup game). I was already thinking about the match and had nothing to worry about. “There were different options, but when the Madrid offer came, I didn’t hesitate. I think it’s a unique opportunity.”

Atletico Madrid were also in talks to sign Cucurella, before Los Blancos swooped in.

Do Real Madrid want Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea?

Real Madrid are keen on signing a midfielder this summer and have Enzo Fernandez as one of the options. They are keen on bolstering the squad, and have opened talks with the Argentina star.

Chelsea are open to selling him this summer, and have set a £120 million price tag on the midfielder. They paid just over £105 million for him in January 2023, after he impressed at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
