Elliot Anderson could be involved in one of the biggest transfers in Premier League history after fresh reports claimed a record-breaking move is now edging closer.
Manchester United supporters have followed the midfielder closely throughout the summer.
Anderson had been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford as Michael Carrick looked to reshape his midfield following Casemiro’s departure.
United have already agreed a deal with Atalanta for Ederson, with the Brazilian viewed as a long-term replacement for Casemiro.
However, Elliot Anderson was another name admired by the club after his impressive rise at Nottingham Forest.
Now, though, a move elsewhere appears to be gathering pace.
According to RMC Sport, Anderson is closing in on a transfer that could be worth around €150 million.
Anderson move could break British transfer record
The report states that further talks are expected within the next 24 hours as negotiations continue over a huge deal.
The club pushing hardest for Anderson is Manchester City.
RMC Sport claim the 23-year-old could join City for a total package worth €150 million.
If completed, the transfer would make Anderson the most expensive signing in Premier League history.
It would surpass the €145 million fee Liverpool paid Newcastle United for Alexander Isak last summer.
It would also move Anderson beyond Declan Rice, who joined Arsenal from West Ham for around €121 million in 2023.
Nottingham Forest signed Anderson for around €41 million in 2024, meaning any sale at the reported figure would represent a major profit.
The midfielder has enhanced his reputation further at the 2026 World Cup with England.
RMC Sport describe him as one of the revelations of the tournament so far under Thomas Tuchel.
Anderson started England’s first two matches against Croatia and Ghana, producing strong displays in midfield.
Against Croatia, he covered 12.04km, caused 15 turnovers, made three tackles and recovered the ball eight times.
He also assisted Jude Bellingham’s goal in England’s 4-2 victory.
United had admired Anderson, but the financial demands around the deal have made a move unrealistic.
For now, the midfielder appears closer to a record-breaking switch away from Forest.
