Casemiro looked visibly moved in his farewell video to Manchester United, struggling to contain his emotions as he discussed the challenge of departing the club. His wife Anna likewise acknowledged that the choice had been far from straightforward for their family. The experienced midfielder left Old Trafford upon the conclusion of his contract, ending a four-year period during which he featured 160 times and claimed two pieces of silverware.

In a farewell message released by United, showcasing the Brazilian's memorable moments throughout his Manchester tenure, colleagues including Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha and Diogo Dalot paid touching tributes before Casemiro and Anna delivered their own thoughts. "I need to say thank you because it was four unbelievable years," Casemiro began. "I love this club, the fans, the people. Thank you so much. It's very special and emotional for me. I finish in this moment, but it's very emotional."

Supporters demonstrated their fondness for the midfielder repeatedly, chanting 'one more year' throughout fixtures.

Anna recognised just how difficult the choice to depart had proved for their family. "As a family, we talked a lot and had to make this difficult decision," she said.

"But I think it feels like the end of a very beautiful chapter, as I told Casemiro and our family. I think everything about this moment has been beautiful, right? His chant feels like a declaration of love for him.

"For us, there's an emptiness in leaving. The love we are receiving through that song means so much."

Casemiro concluded his United career having claimed both the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, and departed with a 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford in May.

The Brazil international has now agreed to join Inter Miami on a free transfer once his World Cup commitments conclude. The 34‐year‐old is poised to link up with David Beckham's MLS side next season, forming a stellar midfield partnership alongside Lionel Messi.

Inter Miami did, however, need to overcome one final hurdle - his MLS discovery rights. Those were possessed by LA Galaxy, but Beckham's outfit has struck an agreement to secure them, clearing the path for the transfer.

A verbal understanding is believed to be in place between all parties, ensuring Casemiro will commence his MLS journey when club football returns after the World Cup.

In Florida, Casemiro is widely tipped to step into the shoes of Sergio Busquets, who hung up his boots at the end of 2025 following Inter Miami's MLS Cup triumph.

The Brazilian will take his place in a star-studded midfield alongside Messi, Rodrigo De Paul, former Barcelona and Liverpool forward Luis Suarez, and ex-Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon.

On the international stage, Casemiro featured in Brazil's 1-1 draw with Morocco before being withdrawn at the break. He went on to play the full 90 minutes as Brazil swept aside Haiti 3-0 last Saturday, and is expected to retain his place when Carlo Ancelotti's side lock horns with Scotland on Wednesday night at 11pm.
