Chelsea have included Como defender Jacobo Ramon on their list of centre-back targets, according to reports.

The Athletic claim that the Blues have three or four names under consideration to strengthen the middle of defence.

Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix is among the options and it is believed that Ramon is one of the others who could be pursued.

It is important to point out that the 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge on several occasions previously.

However, the arrival of Xabi Alonso as manager has likely moved Ramon up the list of names.

The pair worked together at Real Madrid

Alonso has actually had two coaching spells at the Bernabeu. Everyone knows about his ill-fated six-month stint in charge of the first team last year.

However, the Spaniard initially worked as a youth coach at Real during the 2018/19 season, and that is where he met Ramon.

The centre-back came through Real’s youth system before leaving for Como in July 2025. The Spanish giants still have a buyback option on the player, but it seems unlikely they will trigger it. They will sign Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer on July 1st, and they are also reportedly interested in Manchester City’s Ruben Dias.

Chelsea want a new partner for Colwill

Alonso is said to have enquired about recruiting a centre-back even before he signed his contract to become Chelsea boss, so it is a position that he feels strongly about reinforcing.

If the Blues do play four at the back, it is expected that the new addition would strike up a partnership with Levi Colwill.

With that being the case, it does raise doubts over the futures of players such as Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo and Benoit Badiashile.
