Erling Haaland has been Manchester City‘s standout player since joining them from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.
The striker has scored 162 goals and contributed 30 assists from 192 matches for Manchester City, of which 38 goals and nine assists were from last season.
His impressive performances have also led to transfer rumours, linking him to Real Madrid and Barcelona.
In February, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that the La Liga winners have the finances ready to either sign him or Atlético Madrid’s Julián Alvarez this summer. Barca are now focusing on the latter.
Manchester City star not closing door on Ligue 1
Erling Haaland has extended his Manchester City form for Norway at the World Cup. He scored four goals in the first two matches against Iran and Senegal.
Norway are second in Group I, level on points with leaders France, and have qualified for the next round. The two will face each other in the last group stage fixture on Friday.
Ahead of this clash, the 25-year-old’s father, Alf-Inge Haaland, spoke to RMC Sport‘s Rothen s’enflamme.
RMC Sport were curious to know if the frontman has had an opportunity to join Paris Saint-Germain in the past.
“I don’t know. PSG are a fantastic club, and I wish them all the best. They’re coming off two incredible seasons with those two Champions League titles. It’s a very big club, but the rumours weren’t founded at the time. The timing wasn’t right; it wasn’t the right moment. PSG remains a top club, and I wish them all the best,” he said.
When immediately asked whether Haaland would move to Ligue 1, Alf-Inge explained: “I don’t know. Time will tell, but nothing is impossible.”
Maresca next Manchester City manager
Pep Guardiola has left the Etihad, and the Citizens are in the process of appointing his successor.
The latest claims state Manchester City have a deal in place with Enzo Maresca. Alf-Inge talked about this when asked what Guardiola’s exit means to Erling.
“No one can replace Pep Guardiola, but it’s a new chapter for Manchester City,” he added.
“It looks like Enzo Maresca will replace him. He’s a good choice, even though he’s had a difficult season. I think he’ll get along well with Erling, and it’s a new era. No one will be like Guardiola, but we have to do our best.”
