**Liverpool have been backed to move for Newcastle United and Brazil midfielder Bruno Guimaraes this summer, as they continue to eye up options.**
The Reds are yet to make seal a new midfield signing, with Victor Munoz the only addition for Andoni Iraola to date, coming in from Osasuna.
Many names have been mentioned as summer options for Liverpool, including English pair Adam Wharton and Alex Scott, with at least one fresh face needed in the middle of the park.
Speaking to [_Football Insider_](https://www.footballinsider247.com/manchester-city/liverpool-encouraged-to-explore-bruno-guimaraes-deal-hes-better-than-elliot-anderson), former scout Bryan King talked up the idea of the Reds making a move for Bruno, even though nothing concrete has emerged yet:
_“The boy that always impresses me is the Brazilian boy at Newcastle, the captain. I could see him causing interest from Man City or Liverpool or Arsenal even. In front, I think he’s a better bet than Anderson. If I was going to bring a player into my football club, I’d sooner bring him in than Anderson._
_“I think Anderson’s been hyped up a little bit too much for me. He’s a good Premier League player. I ain’t sure whether he’s a good international player. Believe me, if anybody pays 130 million for him, then football’s gone mad.”_
**Would Bruno Guimaraes be Liverpool’s perfect midfield signing?**
------------------------------------------------------------------
Bruno is arguably one of the Premier League’s most influential midfielders and is also starting for Brazil at the 2026 World Cup, with [Eddie Howe](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/bruno-guimaraes-eddie-howe-newcastle-brazil-bernd-leno-b2852232.html) making it clear how much he rates him:
_“Bruno, I’ve spoken about him many times, but the player and the person together is a very special thing. His will to win, his drive, his determination to be successful is there for us every day. His professionalism to prepare himself to play is of the highest level and I always think you get your rewards if you do that and 90th minute, he’s still going.”_
For all of Bruno’s many attributes, however, he isn’t the quickest and most dynamic of midfielders, and Liverpool need a player of that ilk to come in.
He also turns 29 later this year, so there wouldn’t be much sell-on value in the future, so it is a transfer that the Reds should avoid, even though the Newcastle captain is an excellent player.
