Gabriel Gudmundsson breaks silence amid Chelsea transfer talk and reveals chat with agent

Leeds United’s Gabriel Gudmundsson has responded to speculation linking him with a move away from Elland Road.

The left-back, who had an excellent first season in English football, has been connected with a move to Chelsea by the Swedish press.

Outlet Expressen reported the 27-year-old has been identified as a possible replacement for the Blues' Real Madrid-bound Marc Cucurella.

However, the former Lille defender, who is away at the World Cup and preparing for an appointment with Japan and team-mate Ao Tanaka, declined to engage with the speculation.

Website Fotbolltransfers quotes him as telling a press conference on Wednesday: “It is clear that it is a confirmation that you are doing something good, then of course all the focus is on the national team here, so that is all I can comment on.”

Gudmundsson also revealed what he has said to his agent while he is away in North America.

“I've worked with him for ten years, he knows that when I'm here I want to wear this shirt and focus on that. So that's what matters.”

Gudmundsson signed for £10m from French side Lille last July, penning a four-year deal. From a Leeds perspective, if they were to sell, they would hold the cards with the Swede having three years remaining on his contract.
