Liverpool has been urged to focus its pursuit of a new midfielder on Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes.

The Reds are expected to sign a new midfielder this summer after a season in which the team lacked intensity in the center of the park. A few names have been linked with a move to Anfield – one of which is Nottingham Forest and England midfielder Elliot Anderson – but Liverpool has been urged to to focus on signing Magpies talisman Bruno instead.

"The boy that always impresses me is the Brazilian boy at Newcastle, the captain," former Premier League scout Bryan King told Football Insider. "I think he's a good player, he is a good footballer.

"I could see him causing interest from Man City or Liverpool or Arsenal even. In front, I think he's a better bet than Anderson. If I was going to bring a player into my football club, I'd sooner bring him in than Anderson.

"I think Anderson's been hyped up a little bit too much for me. He's a good Premier League player. I ain't sure whether he's a good international player. Believe me, if anybody pays 130 million for him, then football's gone mad."

Newcastle has already lost Anthony Gordon this summer, and there are rumors that other star players like Sandro Tonali and Bruno could be angling for moves too.

Another midfielder that Liverpool has been linked with is Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga, who new Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly put up for sale.

TEAMtalk reports that Liverpool is interested in signing Camavinga as Andoni Iraola gets to work revamping the team's midfield in the off-season.

Manchester United is also said to be a fan of the midfielder, with the Red Devils likely to be in the market for multiple new midfielders following Casemiro's exit.

TEAMtalk says that Liverpool has made direct contact with Camavinga's camp over the possibility of him moving to Anfield.

The Athletic reports that Madrid is willing to sell Camavinga this summer as it focuses on bringing Enzo Fernandez to the Bernabeu from Chelsea.

Liverpool's midfield looked leggy at times this season, and recruiting an athletic option like the $57 million-reated Camavinga to play alongside Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai would give Iraola's squad plenty of energy.
