Coventry City's rivals hit 'stumbling block' as Sky Blues linked with Manchester United man

Hull City have hit a ‘stumbling block’ in their attempts to beat Coventry City to the signing of Radek Vitek

The Sky Blues were named as one of several clubs keen on signing the goalkeeper from Manchester United.

City, Ipswich Town and the Tigers were all credited with an interest in a player who spent last season on loan at Bristol City and reportedly does not want to merely go back to Old Trafford as a back-up.

The 22-year-old Czech is said to want game-time – and both the Sky Blues and the Tigers are known to be looking at their goalkeeping departments.

City are trying to sign last season’s loan player Carl Rushworth from Brighton – but clearly have other options, with Vitek and Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson also linked.

Sergej Jakirovic's Hull are looking to upgrade Ivan Pandur but BBC Radio Humberside say can’t agree a fee, which is a 'stumbling block' and that any deal is looking ‘unlikely’.

As things stand the Sky Blues have Ben Wilson and long-term absentee Oliver Dovin as options ahead of the Premier League season.

Rushworth’s situation at the Amex Stadium could be complicated by uncertainty around first choice Bart Verbruggen and back-up Jason Steele.
