Jeremy Jacquet dispels injury worries with new social media update

Pre-season is already shaping up to be slightly staggered for Liverpool, but Jeremy Jacquet looks increasingly likely to arrive at Kirkby with no major fitness cloud hanging over him.

Liverpool is expected to report back for pre-season around July 13.

However, several players involved in the 2026 FIFA World Cup are set for delayed returns because of their post-tournament break.

The summer schedule means Andoni Iraola may not get his full group together straight away.

The current expectation is that players are usually given around three weeks off after international tournaments, which could rule a number of World Cup participants out of the opening phase of pre-season and potentially even parts of the club’s US tour.

That tour includes fixtures against Sunderland in Nashville on July 25, Wrexham in New York on July 29 and Leeds United in Chicago on August 2, before Liverpool return home for friendlies against Monaco on August 9 and Como on August 16.

With the World Cup round of 16 beginning on July 4, those who go deep into the tournament may not be back until early August.

Jeremy Jacquet’s fitness had been a question heading into the summer.

The young defender suffered a left shoulder injury while playing for Rennes against Lens on February 7, with Rennes later confirming he would need surgery, while multiple reports at the time cast doubt over whether he would be fully ready for Liverpool’s pre-season programme.

That is why his latest social media activity will come as a welcome sight for Liverpool supporters.

The Frenchman posted a video of himself doing pre-season training on Instagram, looking very sharp and showing no signs of being uncomfortable in his movement.

While the post stops short of giving a formal medical update, it does appear to dispel some of the lingering concern around his shoulder issue.

Jacquet looked sharp, mobile and hard at work, and for Liverpool that is exactly the kind of sign supporters will have wanted to see as pre-season edges closer.
