**West Ham United have been linked with a move for Norberto Neto this summer.**
The Brazilian goalkeeper, who has had stints in England with both Arsenal and Bournemouth, could be an option for the Hammers.
The one-time Brazil international had a fantastic time at Bournemouth, being their starting goalkeeper for a couple of years, before losing his spot as they opted for a younger player. He then went out on loan to Arsenal in 24/25, playing back-up to David Raya.
The 36-year-old returned to his homeland after over fourteen years in Europe playing for the likes of Valencia, Juventus, Barcelona, and Fiorentina before moving to the South Coast.
After just a season at Botafogo, rumours of a return to England have already begun, with talks of Championship West Ham being interested in the goalkeeper.
As things stand, a move wouldn’t make sense; we have both Alphonse Areola and Mads Hermansen on the books. The Hammers are looking at offloading Areola; however, I can only see a keeper of Neto’s calibre and wages coming in if he’s going to be number one.
There have been talks of Hermansen having suitors across Europe – Besiktas are rumoured to have had talks. However, everyone at the club expects Mads to stay after being a huge success for Leicester in the Championship a couple of years ago.
I don’t think the Neto links are complete nonsense. A free or loan move would make complete sense for a year if we needed a goalkeeper, but we don’t as things stand.
This might be a transfer rumour that gains legs later in the window. We will wait and see what happens.
