Liverpool are in active talks to sign Eduardo Camavinga from Real Madrid, with the latest transfer news pointing to a possible summer deal for the 23-year-old French midfielder.
Mourinho ready to let Eduardo Camavinga go this summer
As reported by The Athletic, Real Madrid’s new manager Jose Mourinho is open to selling Camavinga this summer. Madrid had already informed Camavinga that he is free to leave the Bernabeu before Mourinho’s arrival, and that stance has not changed since Mourinho took charge.
TEAMtalk’s transfer insider Graeme Bailey has also confirmed this, adding that the club communicated the decision to the player directly. Madrid’s midfield is stacked, with Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde, and Aurelien Tchouameni all ahead of Camavinga in the pecking order, leaving little room for him to reclaim a starting role. With Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea identified as their top midfield target, Madrid are equally motivated to offload Camavinga and free up both wages and squad space ahead of a busy Premier League summer.

Camavinga’s season data tells the real story
Camavinga played just 16 times from the start in La Liga this season. As reported by FOTMOB, he got 1 goal and 0 assists in 1,526 minutes on the pitch. For a 23-year-old who joined Madrid as one of football’s most exciting young talents, that is a poor return. The France snub has made his position even harder. Deschamps dropped him from the squad for this summer’s World Cup. Kone and Zaire-Emery are now clearly ahead of him in the France setup. As reported by Goal, Deschamps said: “His season made him lose his place. Injuries too. And the competition which is very strong in the position.”

The coaches did not trust him to play the full 90 minutes. At Liverpool, Iraola’s style would give him a set role in the middle. Camavinga’s value has fallen to around €50 million (£43 million), down from €100 million in 2024. FSG rarely get the chance to sign this level of player at this kind of price. His arrival would also free Ryan Gravenberch to play further forward, where he was at his best at Ajax and Bayern Munich. Camavinga can play at left-back too, which gives Iraola more options across the team. He is 23, has two Champions League Winners medals, and costs far less than he did four years ago.
Camavinga is exactly the kind of player the Reds have rarely been able to target. This summer, they can.
