Tottenham make exploratory enquiries for Chelsea’s 1-goal PL striker

Tottenham are looking to add firepower to their squad.

Tottenham Hotspur have not slowed down after signing three defenders. Our club officials have added a new goalkeeper to Roberto De Zerbi’s squad in the form of Martin Dubravka, who is deemed a potential replacement for Guglielmo Vicario.

The speculation over the last few days suggests that the North Londoners have now moved on to reinforcing other areas further up the pitch. De Zerbi wants to add goals to his side following Tottenham’s problems in finding the back of the net this past season. Spurs managed just 48 goals in 38 games, marking their lowest return in a decade.

Richarlison was the only bright spot up top, netting 12 times in all competitions. The Brazilian did not find much support from his fellow strikers, Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani. This has led to the club bosses scouring the market for a new No.9. Recent reports have linked Spurs to Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey. Alongside Brobbey, there is interest in another Premier League striker.

Tottenham make exploratory enquiries for Chelsea striker Liam Delap

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham have made exploratory enquiries for Chelsea striker Liam Delap. Everton and Newcastle United are also interested in the Englishman.

Chelsea signed Liam Delap from Ipswich Town after triggering a £30million buyout clause last summer. Injury problems, poor form and strong competition from Joao Pedro led to the 23-year-old managing just two goals in 41 appearances (1 in the PL). Regardless of his lacklustre showings at Stamford Bridge, the aforementioned clubs remain convinced he can regain the form he showed with Ipswich Town in the 2024/25 campaign, when he bagged 12 Premier League goals in 37 outings.

Joao Pedro’s strong return has attracted interest from Barcelona but is deemed ‘untouchable’ by the Chelsea board, who are more open to selling one of Delap or Nicolas Jackson. The Blues want at least £40m for Delap in a bid to generate a profit on the centre-forward.

At 23, still relatively young and rated extremely highly across the English circuit, Delap’s debut season in Chelsea colours was forgettable. Yet, Spurs are one of the clubs to have enquired about his potential availability, hoping to tap into his potential. Our Hotspur Way chiefs are expected to view the Chelsea man as a back-up to Solanke, and not a starter.

If that is the case, and De Zerbi thinks Delap can fit well in his system, then Tottenham must make a concrete move to sign him. Otherwise, we can do a lot better than the ex-Ipswich Town striker.
