People across Liverpool sought refuge from soaring temperatures today as the city sweltered through the hottest day of the year so far. An remained in force across the North West as temperatures climbed into the mid-30s, with forecasters warning of exceptional heat and possible record-breaking conditions.
Across the city, people found different ways to stay cool. At Wyld Sauna, visitors took the plunge into ice baths in an effort to escape the scorching temperatures, while outside , Foo Fighters fans queued to use free sun cream dispensers ahead of the band's eagerly anticipated concert.
Elsewhere, beaches were packed with sunseekers making the most of the weather, while beer gardens across Liverpool filled up with workers enjoying an after-work pint in the blazing sunshine.
The has warned people to take extra care during the heatwave, which follows record temperatures recorded elsewhere in the UK this week.
