Transfers: City agree £130m record deal to sign Anderson

Manchester City have struck an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign England international **Elliot Anderson**, it is understood.

The 23-year-old is one of the hottest properties in world football and has been attracting admiring glances from a variety of clubs.

City have been in talks with Forest over a potential deal and have now reached an agreement to bring in Anderson, reportedly for a British record fee of £130m.

The midfielder is currently in Kansas City preparing for England's final World Cup group game against Panama in New Jersey.

Anderson has reportedly been given permission to have a medical ahead of Saturday’s game at MetLife Stadium. The Football Association has been contacted for comment.

The midfielder has started England’s first two Group L games and has established himself as an integral part of Thomas Tuchel’s side since being handed his debut last September.

A member of the England team that won the 2025 U-21 European Championship, Anderson’s fine performances for Forest went up a level last season.

Manchester United were interested as well as City, who have faced tough negotiations with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis given the player’s quality and the fact his City Ground deal ran until 2029.

Tuchel described him as the "full package" during the World Cup preparation camp and expressed confidence that City’s interest would not distract him.

"He’s a top player," the England boss said. "There’s nothing more to say, he’s the full package.

"I’m happy that he’s with us on that kind of level and he’s a key player for us."

Asked if he was aware of City’s bid, the England boss said: "No comment! He seems not affected. It was an amazing performance (against Costa Rica), so all fine."

Onana has no future at Old Trafford

Meanwhile, Manchester United goalkeeper **Andre Onana** is close to securing a second loan move to Trabzonspor.

Onana (30) is set to spend a second season with the Turkish side, having helped the club to a third-placed finish in the Super Lig and win the Turkish Cup last term.

Trabzonspor had already made clear their desire to retain the services of Onana, who lost his starting place at Old Trafford last summer with the arrival of Senne Lammens.

Onana joined United from Inter Milan in a £47m deal in the summer of 2023 and has a contract until 2028, but the Cameroon keeper appears to have no future at the club.

Hincapie in World Cup action for Ecuador against Germany

Elsewhere, **Piero Hincapie** has completed a £34.5m move to Arsenal as the Premier League champions start plotting their title defence.

Hincapie, currently in action for Ecuador in the World Cup, joined Arsenal on a loan deal from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen last summer.

The 24-year-old defender made 39 appearances in all competitions as the Gunners saw out their first title in 22 years and reached the final of the Champions League.

Hincapie's permanent move to the Emirates Stadium had been expected to be a formality with Arsenal confirming they have activated his clause to stay, understood to until 2031, on Thursday.

He becomes the club’s first signing of the summer after Arsenal spent in excess of £250m on seven players last year.
