Liverpool may be edging closer to a deal for Yan Diomande, with reports suggesting the winger's camp is applying pressure on RB Leipzig to accept the Reds' offer.
Diomande has emerged as Liverpool's top target to replace Mohamed Salah, whose nine-year spell at Anfield is set to come to an end next week. The 19-year-old only joined Leipzig last summer but enjoyed an outstanding debut season in the Bundesliga, attracting interest from several of Europe's leading clubs.
Meanwhile, Liverpool has also been urged to focus their search for a new midfielder on Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes, who has been touted as a superior option to Elliott Anderson.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the latest transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds.
Yan Diomande (RB Leipzig)
Liverpool is reportedly prepared to offer $113 million (€100 million) plus a further $23 million (€20 million) in add-ons to secure Diomande's signature. While RB Leipzig would prefer to delay any decision until after the World Cup in the hope of driving up his value, Bild reports that Roc Nation, the agency representing Diomande, is pushing the Bundesliga club to accept Liverpool's bid.
However, Diomande appeared to cast doubt on a move to Anfield earlier this month when he admitted he has supported Paris Saint-Germain since childhood. The winger also described the prospect of joining the French champions as a "pleasure," potentially handing PSG an advantage in the race for his signature.
Despite those remarks, Liverpool is still believed to be in pole position to secure Diomande's signature. Interestingly, the winger has previously revealed that his father was a Liverpool supporter, a connection that could yet work in the Reds' favor.
"I want to play at Anfield, I want to play for Liverpool," Diomande said earlier this year. "I’m a big fan of Liverpool. I’m a big fan of Liverpool because my father’s dream is to see me play at Anfield. So that’s my dream."
Liverpool.com says: If Liverpool can complete a deal for Yan Diomande, it would represent a major statement of intent. At just 19, he would arrive with immense potential rather than the burden of being an instant replacement, giving Liverpool the opportunity to mould one of Europe's most exciting young talents into its next marquee forward.
Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle)
Liverpool is expected to strengthen its midfield this summer after a campaign in which the side was often criticized for lacking energy and intensity in the center of the pitch. Several names have been linked with a move to Anfield, including Nottingham Forest and England midfielder Elliot Anderson, but the Reds have now been urged to prioritize a move for Newcastle captain Guimaraes instead.

The Brazilian has established himself as one of the Premier League's standout midfielders and has been touted as a more complete option than Anderson, thanks to his blend of technical quality, leadership and defensive work rate.
"The boy that always impresses me is the Brazilian boy at Newcastle, the captain," former Premier League scout Bryan King told Football Insider. "I think he's a good player, he is a good footballer.
"I could see him causing interest from Man City or Liverpool or Arsenal even. In front, I think he's a better bet than Anderson. If I was going to bring a player into my football club, I'd sooner bring him in than Anderson.
"I think Anderson's been hyped up a little bit too much for me. He's a good Premier League player. I ain't sure whether he's a good international player. Believe me, if anybody pays 130 million for him, then football's gone mad."

Liverpool.com says: Bruno Guimaraes is arguably the ideal type of midfielder the Reds need. However, a deal appears highly unlikely. Newcastle is under little pressure to sell one of its most important players, while the transfer fee required would likely be enormous.
